About Rockstar Hats

 Rockstar Hats was founded by the Mehm Family and is owned and run by Joe & Kaycie Mehm.

Our story is steeped in the worlds of music and fashion. For decades, our family has been at the heart of the rock and roll scene—working backstage for legendary bands, rocking out on stage ourselves, and running successful rock-themed apparel stores. It all started in the 1950s when our grandfather, a true craftsman, began handcrafting hats for our family. This passion for quality headwear became the cornerstone of our family legacy, blending our love for music and fashion into what we create today.

Some family history:

This vintage photo from the 1950s showcases our grandfather and great-grandfather, the original craftsmen of our family's felt hats. Back then, they specialized in creating hats from felt, including the iconic Jughead-style crown hats for us as kids. Their craftsmanship and dedication sparked a tradition that has fueled our family's enduring passion for crafting quality headwear ever since.

Our dad spent more than 30 years behind the scenes as a stagehand and lighting expert, soaking up the electrifying atmosphere of nearly every rock band that rocked through Florida during the golden era of rock. His firsthand experience in the heart of the action shaped our deep connection to the music world and inspired the spirit behind our hats.

Beyond his work behind the scenes, our dad also took to the stage, playing in several bands of his own. Here he is, captured in a candid moment, practicing on our grandparents' back porch—a testament to his lifelong bond with music and the rock and roll spirit that runs through our veins.
